《Will people have robot》说课稿

Good morning/afternoon everyone, I’m NO X. it’s my great honor to present my lesson here. Today, my topic is Will you have a robot? To make my presentation much clearer, I’d like to divide the teaching structure into the following parts: analysis of teaching material, students, teaching and learning methods, teaching procedure and blackboard design. Now I am about to present them one by one.

This text is about whether we will have more or less robots in the future. The text offers a good chance for students to explore the advanced technology world as well as improve reading skill. According to the demands of the New Standard English, I divide my lesson objectives into three categories: knowledge objects, ability objects and moral objects.

The knowledge objects include to grasp the general idea of the whole passage; to get familiar with “help with”, “same as” and “ it is difficult/easy for sb to do sth”.

Ability objects contain to improve Ss’ ability of getting information by scanning, skimming and intensive reading; Learn to use the context to guess the meaning of phrases and sentences; and cultivate Ss’ ability to discover, analyze and solve problem.

At last moves to moral object. The moral object is to enhance students’ awareness of the importance of learning to help promote the development of technology.

Based on the objectives, I make the teaching key points and difficult points as follow.
Teaching key points include :To improve Ss’ reading skills, including scanning, skimming and intensive reading and encourage them to talk about something about robots.
While the teaching difficult points is to enhance students’ awareness of the importance of learning to help promote the development of technology.

Students of Grade 8 have studied English for at least 5 years and grasped a certain amount of English knowledge. They are eager to show, eager to learn. They can cooperate with their classmates to finish a task. On the other hand, students' ability of using English is limited; their abstract thinking is not fully developed and they can be easily distracted. Therefore, all of these shall be taken into consideration into today's teaching.

According to the analysis of teaching materials and students, I'm going to arrange my lesson by mainly using the Task-based Method.

The learning methods of this lesson will be focused on cooperative and researched methods. Students will finish a series of activities to learn the language points and reading skills today.
During the teaching process, pictures and computer will be needed.

In order to achieve my teaching aims successfully I divide my teaching procedure into 6 steps: lead-in, pre-reading, while-reading, post-reading, summary and homework.

Step 1: lead- in
In this step I will show students a video clips about some most advanced technology of robots. After watching the video, divide students into 4 groups to discuss the following question. “Do you think there will be more or fewer robots made in the future? And why?” Then report the result to me.

The purpose of this step is to let students review the previous knowledge about comparatives and express their own opinions and ideas, at the same time get involved in teaching and learning activities. Ss will get excited to talk with their partners in English. Therefore, the topic of this lesson is naturally led in by discussing.

Step 2: pre-reading
In this step, I will first introduce the development of robots and then ask students to guess“Whether there will be robot for everyone in the future and why?” By guessing, students’ interests for knowing the answers will be aroused and prepare to read the whole passage.

Step 3 : While-reading
Task 1 Skimming
Then I get the students comprehend the passage quickly to grasp the main idea, and meanwhile help the students to form a good habit of reading. Then I will make a form and list some simple sentences extracted from the passage and students should finish it by themselves. Then ask some ss to write their answers on the blackboard and the one who gives all right answers gets extra points. The purpose of this step is to develop students’ ability of searching for information by skimming.

Task2. Scanning
Finish a matching exercise about who is agree or disagree that there will be more robots in the future by scanning. That is to say, you must let your eyes “scan” the text quickly to find details that you are looking for. Then the phrases “help out” and “same as” will be guessed according to the text.

Task3. Intensive reading
Read the passage carefully find out the answers about the deeper questions what does Mr. White think about robot? And what’s the attitude of the author towards future robots? In the meantime, help the ss to understand and analyze some key sentences “It will be difficult/easy for somebody to do sth” and require them to make up new sentences.

The goal of this task is to let Ss get further understanding of the article and check their reading results and the deployment of the reading strategies. Then students will be asked to read out loud together the passage to have a whole review.

Step4: Post-reading
In this step I design an activity to help the Ss strengthen what they have read and learnt before. I will organize a debate on the topic of “Will there will robots just like human?”. Sentence patterns learned should be used in their debate. In this task, ss will review sentence patterns and express their view freely and get involved in speaking activities, thus enhancing their team work spirit.

Step5: Summary
Students will summarize the language points they have learned in this lesson; and I make supplement timely. And I will stress that students could in the future help promote the development of robot. And learning knowledge constantly is of great importance.

Step6: Homework
Students are encouraged to collect more information about robot and write a review about this article. They are supposed to share their review next class.

Last but not the least is the blackboard design. As you can see, I have mainly used the table to help students know the details of this passage and then key words and sentence patterns are written on the right side so that students will grasp them better.
